  • Wednesday 8 July t/m Sunday 12 July

From July 8 through 12, 2026, the 2.4-meter World Championship will take place on the Sneekermeer in the Netherlands. The event is organized by the International 2.4mR Class Association, in collaboration with the Koninklijke Watersportvereniging Sneek (KWS). During these days, the world’s best 2.4mR sailors will compete in a premier championship at one of Europe’s most beautiful sailing locations. So far, 88 boats from 18 different countries around the world have registered.
The 2.4mR is a boat that anyone can sail, even if you have a disability. It is a fast, highly adjustable single-handed racing boat.

The opening ceremony will take place on July 8 at 7:00 p.m. at the Fries Scheepvaarmuseum in Sneek. The sailors will travel from the starting island to Sneek aboard the Startschip, the Johanna Jacoba, the Markol, and a sloop, sailing through the city to the Waterpoort to the accompaniment of music by the Utlopers, where they are expected to arrive around 6:15 p.m. From there, the procession will head straight through the city toward the Frisian Maritime Museum.

Bauke Dam, alderman in Súdwest-Fryslân, has agreed to open the World Championship.

The races can be watched every day from the starting island, starting at 9:55 a.m.
