Art at Home

What began last year as a spontaneous idea from a few local artists has grown into the first art weekend in Reahûs. Over the course of two days, a variety of art will be on display in homes, farms, the café, the gym, the school, the kaats court, and the church. In addition to acrylic and oil paintings, watercolors, and sculptures, you can view paper art, felt art, icons, glass art, textile art, patchwork, ceramics, illustrations, leporellos, poems, and photography.

Reahûs is a small village with about 180 residents. The houses are arranged around the large St. Martinus Church. This small village is brimming with creativity. Ideas from the community are encouraged and embraced by, among others, the Village Association and the Roman Catholic Parish. This includes the idea to organize “Keunst Yn Hûs.” The church is open to the public, the kaats court is available for use, and the teachers at the Sint Bonifacius School are also participating with an art project. 

The church hosts a comprehensive exhibition featuring all 22 artists. This is also the starting point of the route. The participants are from Reahûs and the surrounding area. In the brochure with a map, available at the church, you can see where each artist is exhibiting. In the church, which has excellent acoustics, there will be musical performances on Saturday and Sunday. The musical duo Janny Baarda and Hains de Vries will perform on both days starting at 1:00 p.m. On Sunday afternoon, the a cappella group VivA—consisting of four female singers—will perform twice for half an hour each time. 

The locations in the village are within walking distance and marked with the village flag. The outdoor locations can also be visited by bike or car.
