Boat Tour: "Coffee with the Miller" in IJlst

Morning cruise on an open boat (praam) from Sneek to IJlst and back. You’ll first cruise through the city canals of Sneek. Via the Geeuw, you’ll sail to the next Frisian town, IJlst. Here, you’ll stop for coffee at Houtzaagmolen de Rat and (if open) visit the Museum Houtstad IJlst. During the guided tour, you’ll learn all about why IJlst is also known as the “Wood City.” If there’s enough wind, the sawmill is in full operation. The boat tour, including the guided tour, lasts 2.5 hours.

Location
The boarding location is at the dock of Café/Restaurant De Kajuit (near Jachthaven De Domp), Dompleane 1 in Sneek. Parking is available at the restaurant itself.

Important to know
Please arrive at the dock 10 minutes before departure. Keep in mind that you’ll be sitting quietly on the open barge while we’re sailing. If the weather is a bit chilly, be sure to bring a sweater or jacket. Fleece blankets are available on board. Umbrellas may also be provided if needed. In sunny weather: remember to bring a hat and sunscreen.

Spaces are limited. The tour will only take place if there are enough participants.

The boat tour in Sneek passes under low bridges. You’ll need to duck in some places. The captain will let you know in advance.
