Capella Sneek and Shakespeare

Chamber choir Capella Sneek performs a program of music from the time of and to texts by Shakespeare.

The program offers a special mix of styles: from Renaissance madrigals and lute songs by John Dowland - say the seventeenth-century blues - to the swinging Songs and Sonnets by George Shearing, the blind jazz pianist. Shakespeare actor Wim Smits recites monologues that, despite their age, sound surprisingly fresh and current.
