Aya, also exposes the nerves of Tunisian society. What would you do if you were suddenly given the chance to build a new life with a clean slate? Aya is in her twenties and works in a hotel on the edge of the Sahara Desert. She lives with her parents and has little prospect of a hopeful future. Then the van she uses to travel to work every day crashes, and she is the only survivor of the crash. Aya sees this as an opportunity to start a new life and flees to Tunis. When she becomes involved in a police investigation there during a night out, her new life in Tunis seems to become impossible.

Aïcha premiered at the Venice Film Festival as part of the Orizzonti competition. After UN FILS, director Mehdi M. Barsoui provides another intriguing look at a turbulent society in Tunisia
