Gong three-day

Tingietersstraat 8 Sneek
The tamtam is an impressive gong. This instrument holds a world of sounds. In this course you will learn to conjure soft, high and deep tones.
  • Friday 19 June10:00 - 18:00

With its impressive sound spectrum, a tamtam gong easily fills the room and you can envelop yourself in its sounds. Your whole body responds to the vibrations of this powerful instrument. Partly through this bodily experience, the tamtam puts you in touch with yourself.

Those who play the gong responsibly and sensitively can detach from thoughts and worries. When you play vigorously, the gong vibrates all your cells. Thus you can refresh and stimulate yourself. Many people relax by simply listening and letting the sounds come in.

By using different beaters and playing aids, you get whisper-soft or powerful sounds from the gong as well as unusual sounds, from deep sea to jungle.

You will learn techniques you can use as meditative play for yourself or someone else. You will experience how to play different rhythms and discover how to tell a story with your gong. The "sound carpet" is valuable in sound meditations or fantasy journeys. Some therapeutic uses of gongs are also discussed.

You will get the necessary information about gongs, beaters and rubbers. The emphasis is on practice with one or more gongs.
Conditions permitting, we will play outdoors on Sunday afternoons.

There are plenty of gongs available to practice with. Do you have a gong? Then bring your own gong to deepen the handling of your instrument.
