Lecture by Simon Schermerhorn on unique forms in sailing

Kleinzand 16 Sneek
Have you ever heard of float fishing, ring sailing, or crusades? These are all unique forms of sailing that we no longer practice today, but that were very common in the past.
  • Wednesday 4 November19:00 - 21:00

A few more activities: Fox Hunt—trying to spot a fox while sailing. And what about pennant sailing and the Waterkamp? Simon Schermerhorn from Terherne looked into which activities were also on the program in Friesland.  And which ones, in his opinion, are worth repeating. A fascinating story with beautiful photos of all the sailing activities from the past.

Simon Schermerhorn from Terherne is the editor of *Spiegel der Zeilvaart* and was a competitive sailor in the 12-foot dinghy and the *Regenboog*. He is the owner of the website “Moente Maritieme Kunst.”

His lecture begins on Wednesday evening, November 4, at 7:30 p.m. Doors open with coffee and tea starting at 7:00 p.m. Admission is €9, or free upon presentation of an Open Museum Month voucher, and for Museum Card holders and members of the Fries Scheepvaart Museum Association.
