Maakplaats: Workshop—Upcycle Your Own Canvas Bag

Decorate your own canvas bag with old clothes and fabric scraps at the Maakplaats in the Sneek Library.

What can you expect?
You’ll cut, glue, and sew, and discover different techniques to create your own unique canvas bag. For this, you can bring old clothes or fabric from home that you no longer use—think of old jeans, a T-shirt with a nice print, or fabric scraps. You can also bring ribbons, buttons, and other materials you have lying around to incorporate into your design. Don’t have any suitable materials of your own? Various materials will be available during the workshop for you to use.

You’ll also learn to work both by hand and with a sewing machine. No prior sewing machine experience is necessary. It’s all about experimenting, combining elements, and discovering what you can create with the materials at hand. At the end of the workshop, you’ll go home with a canvas bag that you’ve decorated entirely to your own taste.

Who is it for?
For anyone who enjoys being creative and turning old materials into something new. No sewing experience is required.
