Mayor De Vries' Laurentius Lecture: Fine and Ferbine

On Monday, October 5, Jannewietske de Vries, mayor of Súdwest-Fryslân, will deliver the annual Laurentius Lecture at the Laurentius Church in Raerd.

In her lecture, “Fine and Ferbine,” she will address the growing polarization in society and the question of how we can strengthen our bonds with one another. She will also discuss how her personal life is connected to her social responsibility as mayor.
She sees an important role for the “quiet center”: people who choose nuance, respect, and connection. She believes that it is precisely this large group that holds the power to bridge divides between people and foster a greater sense of community.

The lecture begins at 8:00 p.m. Admission is €6.00, including coffee or tea. The lecture will be held in Frisian.
