Sorda (Deaf) is a poignant and inspiring Spanish drama that opens eyes - and ears - to a relationship that cannot rely on taken for granted. How do you experience the world when you are deaf? Ángela (Miriam Garlo) and Hector (Alvaro Cervantes) are a happy couple, despite their differences. She is deaf, he is hearing. Together they have built a beautiful life and look forward to the arrival of their first child. But when the baby is born, the balance in their family is upset. Indeed, parenthood and parenting are something they both experience very differently. Ángela struggles to find her place in a "hearing" world that is not set up for her.
Sorda won the Panorama Audience Award at the Berlin Film Festival. The film was written and directed by Eva Libertad, who cast her sister, deaf actress Miriam Garlo, for the lead role. Sorda will also be shown with adapted subtitles for the deaf and hard of hearing.
{Please draw your attention to Sneker Film Love, a 1-day mini-festival. Three very sweet films, gems. You can also order lunch. That order can be linked to the film before and the film after lunch. So you can choose}
