Brazil, Mexico, Chile, the Netherlands 77-year-old Tereza, born and raised in an industrial town on the edge of the Amazon, is suddenly ordered to leave her home.

The state is forcing her to move to a so-called "senior colony," a place where the elderly are expected to "enjoy" their final years so that the younger generation can throw itself fully into growth and productivity. But Tereza does not submit to this inhumane measure. Instead of giving up her freedom, she embarks on a clandestine boat trip through the Amazon. What follows is a journey through lush landscapes full of obstacles, unexpected encounters and a growing realization that freedom has no age. The Blue Trail is a rebellious road movie by Gabriel Mascaro (Neon Bull) about old age, resistance and the right to keep dreaming. The Brazilian film blends social urgency with an atmospheric, image-rich narrative style and shows that aging can also have a very different face. The Blue Trail won the Silver Bear (Grand Jury Prize) at this year's Berlinale and received international acclaim.
