Skûtsjesilen SKS

Annual sailing event in Friesland featuring traditional sailing ships (skutsjes).

The SKS Skûtsjes compete for the championship. This goes to the skipper and his crew who sailed the fewest points possible. The skûtsje that has the least number of points after the last race is champion. If there still remains a tie between two or more skûtsjes, the order of arrival in the last race is decisive. (Almost) every day there is sailing in a different place. The final of SKS Skûtsjesilen will take place on the Sneekermeer.

The races will be covered extensively by Omrop Fryslân. Fans of skûtsjesilen will thus almost sail on board and need not miss anything of the races. It is also possible to watch the races from the shore or from a tour boat.

New this year are the screens on the quay showing the livestream of Omrop Fryslân. This brings the matches closer to the public.
