Skûtsjesilen SKS

An annual sailing event in Friesland featuring traditional sailing ships (skutsjes).

The SKS Skûtsjes compete for the championship. The title goes to the skipper and his crew who have accumulated the fewest points. The skûtsje with the fewest points after the final race is crowned champion. If there is still a tie between two or more skûtsjes, the order of finish in the final race determines the winner. Races are held (almost) every day in a different location. The final of the SKS Skûtsjesilen takes place on the Sneekermeer. 

Omrop Fryslân will provide extensive coverage of the races. This way, skûtsjesilen fans will feel like they’re sailing right along on board and won’t have to miss a single moment of the races. It’s also possible to watch the races from the shore or from a sightseeing boat.
