Sneek Week Rubber Boat Race

On Monday, August 3, the downtown area of Sneek will once again be completely taken over by the legendary Rubber Boat Race. Thousands of visitors will gather along the canals to watch the colorful parade of rubber boats, air mattresses, and the most creative inflatable creations float by. The historic canals, bridges packed with spectators, and the lively atmosphere have made the Rubber Boat Race one of the absolute highlights of Sneek Week for years.

This year, the party starts even before the race begins! Starting at 1:00 p.m., the Marktstraat will be buzzing with music, a lively atmosphere, and, of course, all the teams getting ready for the race. At 2:00 p.m., we’ll kick things off with a group warm-up. Afterward, a colorful parade of participants, rubber boats, and inflatable creations will wind its way through the city center toward the Waterpoort. There, the boats will take to the water, and the starting signal will sound at 3:00 p.m. Along the way, participants will not only compete for the fastest time but also face a spectacular EasyToys obstacle. Of course, there’ll be no shortage of the craziest outfits, unexpected antics, and plenty of water fun.

Thousands of enthusiastic spectators along the route create an amazing atmosphere. After crossing the finish line, you’ll return to Marktstraat—for the awards ceremony and an EasyToys It’s Playtime Bingo game with Bennie Solo. The Sneekweek Rubber Boat Race always draws a large crowd. So make sure you arrive early to secure a good spot along the route and don’t miss a moment of the action. The venue is easily accessible for people with disabilities, and emergency routes remain clear for emergency services at all times.
