Sunday afternoon concert in Goënga church with music group featuring surprising light music from earlier centuries.

Music group Minnewit performs light music with echoes of the distant past, deeply rooted in both Dutch and Frisian tradition. But much of that music was also known abroad. So these were the top hits of earlier centuries. With the contemporary arrangements of folktrio Minnewit, they sound very surprising. By telling interesting and sometimes moving background stories in a light-hearted way, Minnewit puts on a lively performance.

In addition to light music from earlier centuries throughout the Netherlands, the group is now engaged in a special project: music and dance from the Frisian Woods based on descriptions from the 19th century and old recordings from the early 20th century. Because it was a relatively isolated and poor area, that area had a very distinct culture that had its origins in a distant past.

Minnewit consists of:
Marita Kruijswijk: vocals, flutes, shawm and kromhoorn.
Rutger Dijkstra: vocals, guitars, cister and violin
Ad Bos: vocals, percussion and keys
