Top555 'Súdwest at syn best'

Three days of music, activities and celebration at the end of the year. The brand new event 'Top555' gets Súdwest-Fryslân moving, raising money for a good cause. For 2025, that charity is Stichting Leergeld.

Súdwest-Fryslân is getting ready for a new event with a good cause: the Top555. On the last three days of the year, everything revolves around music, fun and togetherness. The foyer of Theater Sneek will turn into the bustling center of this event, as for three days the music from the Top555 list will enter living rooms from here live, via radio and Omroep Súdwest.

Connecting and contributing

Initiator Bram Nauta together with Marianne Bouwman and Sicco de Vries form the board of 'Súdwest op syn bêst', the foundation behind this brand new event. Bram Nauta explains that the idea for the Top555 had been in his head for a long time. "I've been walking around with this for years. Music brings people together, it transcends ages, backgrounds and villages. But it has to land at the right time. Now, with this foundation and this team, everything feels in place. So this is the moment to make it happen."

It is precisely the diversity of ideas that makes this event special

The foundation wants to connect music, party, exercise and contributing to a good cause. The money raised by the event will go to Stichting Leergeld. This foundation helps children from families who are struggling financially. "It's wonderful that we can really mean something with music and fun," says Bram. "That's what it's all about in the end: connecting and creating opportunities."

Switching live to villages and cities

The Top555 broadcasts are not just about the music. Every two hours a well-known Frisian personality, together with a professional DJ, presents the program. Meanwhile, the program switches live to villages and cities in the region. Reporters there report on actions, performances and playful activities that residents and entrepreneurs themselves have organized to contribute to charity. "It can't get crazy enough," says Bram. "From a playback show to a sponsor run or an oliebollenbakwedstrijd: everything contributes to the festivities as well as to charity."

Prior

Prior to the party, there is room to help decide which songs will be in the Top555 list. At the end of November, the voting list will be open for a week and residents can vote for their favorite song. This can be from an existing list, or with an entry of their own. The result is a musical cross-section of the region, from classics to guilty pleasures.

Súdwest yn 't Spier

One of the regular features of the program will be "Súdwest yn 't Spier. The concept, inspired by Holland in Motion, allows residents to literally take action. Sports clubs, schools and associations organize low-threshold sporting activities, which also raise money. Chairman Marianne Bouwman: "With this, we want to show that exercise, music and togetherness can go perfectly well together."

Music cafe as living room

The focal point of Top555 is the OBW Music Café in the foyer of Theater Sneek. For three days the audience can go there to watch the broadcast live, drink a cup of coffee or make a donation. Marianne: "We want people to feel seen and to be able to participate. It is precisely the diversity of ideas that makes this event special."

Music brings people together, it transcends ages, backgrounds and villages

After three days of music, actions and togetherness, the festive climax follows on New Year's Eve: the afterparty, where not only the number 1 of the Top555 is celebrated, but also all the actions and moments that have set Súdwest-Fryslân in motion. Marianne Bouwman sums it up nicely: "It will be our party, from and for the community of Súdwest-Fryslân."
