Simmer yn Súdwest

From Saturday, July 12 to Friday, August 22, it's time again for Simmer Yn Súdwest. A summer full of sporting, cultural and fun activities for elementary school children and teenagers from Súdwest-Fryslân. Simmer Yn Súdwest is an initiative of culture agency Akte2, together with Sociaal Collectief, the GroenGrijsbus and the neighborhood sports coaches of Team FRL Súdwest.

Kinderkunstweek Bolsward
During this summer vacation there is plenty to do. In Bolsward the Kinderkunstweek is organized from August 5 to 8. Always wanted to play in a performance? Then the Kindertalentweek is really something for you! Everyone can participate - even if you have never been on stage before. August 5 we kick off with the theater performance Laundry Fun. Tuesday and Wednesday children can discover their talent in workshops dance, theater, music or Escher. Thursday and Friday are devoted to creating their own performance. In two days they will create a great performance together with two enthusiastic theater makers/teachers. From idea to execution.

Museum activities and open studios
From August 11 to 18, art providers from the region will give special workshops at inspiring locations, including museums. At Houtstad IJlst, for example, children can make wooden animals, and at the Jopie Huisman Museum they will work on rap and ghosting in the language room. In Sneek, youngsters can spend two days tufting (a textile technique), while in Museum De Tiid the turntables will be ready for a DJ workshop. And to top it off, at It Tsiispakhûs in Wommels there is the opportunity to make robots from leftover wood.

In addition, between July 29 and the end of August, various artists will open the doors of their own studios for free workshops. For example, children can sculpt at Staal&Steen in Bolsward, draw at Tekenzin in Burgwerd, paint at Atelier Tempelman in Sneek or go wild with paint at BeleefhetUs' Kliederatelier.

Outdoor Cinema
On Friday, August 22, the Buitenbios will take place in Bolsward: an outdoor cinema with a big screen, free popcorn and drinks. The sports field will turn into an atmospheric film area from 19:00. Beforehand, visitors can have fun with games like bocce ball, slacklining, the panna cage, a big movie quiz or short films in the mini cinema. It promises to be the final event of the summer vacation.
