Sven Figee - The Wild North Sea

The music was composed by Sven Figee, also the bandleader of Sven Hammond (Big Band) and will be played live by a 4-piece band. In addition, stories and anecdotes about the creation of both the images and music of The Wild North Sea will be told by professional diver Peter van Rodijnen in conversation with Sven Figee.
All this is supported by partly unique film footage.

About Sven Figee:
Pianist, organist, composer, musical director, producer.
Sven Figee (b. 1975) has been called the Lucky Luke of the Hammond: he plays faster than his shadow and it is always striking. This man knows no limits on his instrument. From Bach to blues and from Vivaldi to Metallica. His physical way of making music is a feast for the eyes and ears: steaming, ringing, squeaking, crackling and intoxicating, but also poetic and intensely intimate. In 2006, he formed the band "Sven Hammond," which has since released 10 albums, with number 11, Cosmic Gold, released in the spring of 2025.
Hired by the incredibly successful Saturday night primetime TV show 'Matthijs Gaat Door,' Sven expanded the band into a 15-piece big band called the 'Sven Hammond Big Band' with 2 drummers, percussion, a large horn section, strings, additional keys and singers. They made 40 episodes of this now legendary show in 2021-2023, collaborating with a large selection of national and international music legends and stars.
Since then, the band has drawn large crowds to festivals and theaters. In the fall of 2023 and 2024, they will tour Dutch theaters with a show about the life and music of American legend "Ray Charles" (The Sven Hammond Big Band plays Ray Charles). Furthermore, in a renewed collaboration with Matthijs, the band will join several guests on stage at a number of open-air theaters in the Netherlands this summer.
Sven, trained as a classical pianist, is also currently 'house pianist' of the successful and more than 10-year Dutch TV program 'Podium Klassiek', where he is a regular guest.
