Top555 “Súdwest at Its Best”

During the last three days of December, Súdwest-Fryslân is all about the Top555. At the end of the year, everything revolves around music and charity, thanks to “Súdwest op syn best.”

This year’s charity is nine HaFaBra associations from our municipality. These harmony, fanfare, and brass band associations play an important role in many cities, villages, and communities. They are indispensable at many celebrations and essential for the musical education of children and young people. Music associations from Nijland, Workum, Parrega, Easterein, IJlst, Witmarsum, Makkum, Oudega, and Sneek will now begin raising funds.

In the final days of December, we’ll celebrate a fantastic musical festival with all the proceeds and stories we’ve gathered. Our ultimate goal is to announce an impressive amount just before the turn of the year from 2026 to 2027. This will allow the associations to invest in instruments, contemporary sheet music, inspiring teachers, conductors, and suitable rehearsal and storage spaces. Together, we’re investing in the musicians of tomorrow and ensuring that music continues to resonate for the next generation.

The Top555 is not just a fundraising campaign. It’s about having fun together and showcasing what Súdwest-Fryslân has to offer—Súdwest at its best. The organizers hope to involve many businesses, institutions, schools, and, above all, residents of the municipality. Together, we’re bringing music to the forefront in our municipality and giving children the chance to discover what music can mean to them. Because whether you’re 8 or 80, whether you play a wind instrument or a percussion instrument, music connects people and does you good! Visit www.top555.nl.

After three days of music, activities, and coming together, New Year’s Eve brings the festive highlight: the afterparty, where we’ll celebrate not only the number 1 song on the Top555 chart but also all the activities and moments that have set Súdwest-Fryslân in motion. Marianne Bouwman sums it up beautifully: “It’s going to be our party, by and for the Súdwest-Fryslân community.”
