Skûtsjesilen SKS

Annual sailing event in Friesland with traditional sailing ships (skutsjes).

From August 3 to 16, 2024 the battle erupts again on the water. The SKS Skûtsjes compete for the championship. That goes to the skipper and his crew who sailed the fewest points possible. The skûtsje with the least amount of points after the last race is champion. If there still remains a tie between two or more skûtsjes, the order of arrival in the last race is decisive. (Almost) every day there is sailing in a different place. The final of SKS Skûtsjesilen will take place on the Sneekermeer.

The races will be covered extensively by Omrop Fryslân. Fans of skûtsjesilen will thus almost sail on board and need not miss anything of the races. It is also possible to watch the races from the shore or from a tour boat. For the full program, visit the SKS website.
