Street art, cow head

Kruizebroederstraat 79 Sneek -plan route

Above the door of this butcher, a stainless steel cow's head hangs on the facade; a landmark for "butchers by trade.

Although the cow's head does not really belong to 'street art,' it is too nice not to include. After all, Sneek also has a rich history of leather tanning. Tanning is a process of turning the skin of animals into leather for clothing, footwear or other uses by means of a tanning agent. Tanning makes the proteins in the hide insoluble. Excavations at the Martiniplein in Sneek revealed that a large leatherworking quarter existed in Sneek in the Middle Ages.
