Exhibition: SILA by Sacha de Boer
What if climate change weren't an abstract concept, but a daily reality? Photographer Sacha de Boer traveled twice to Gjoa Haven, a remote Inuit community in the Arctic. She captures daily life there in a poignant way.
- Saturday 12 September
In the accompanying audio tour, you’ll hear how the Inuit are coping with climate change. They associate it with Sila, which in their mythology represents everything that breathes and lives, but also the weather and the climate. Sila is out of balance, and people must adapt accordingly.
In SILA , Sacha de Boer showcases the resilience of a community that has lived in harmony with nature for generations and has always managed to adapt. At the Fries Scheepvaart Museum, where life on the water takes center stage, SILA offers a surprising perspective. On view starting September 12 in Sneek.
