Sneek Week

Sneekweek is the ultimate summer festival for water sports enthusiasts and partygoers. For an entire week, Sneek comes alive with spectacular sailing races, lively festivities, and countless activities for all ages. During the day, you can enjoy the sailing races on the Sneekermeer, and in the evening, the party really gets going at the music squares throughout the city.

Opening with a Fleet Review

Sneekweek traditionally kicks off on the first Saturday in August, but the festivities begin as early as Friday evening with the official opening and the fleet review. During this impressive ceremony, the “Boat of the Year” and the “Skipper in the Order of the Sneeker Pan” are presented, while dozens of beautifully illuminated ships sail through the canals.

Sailing Races: Sportsmanship and Fun

Sneekweek is Europe’s largest inland sailing event. Sailors from recognized classes compete for the win on the Sneekermeer, with Starteiland serving as the bustling center of the action. Hop on the ferry to the island and experience the racing atmosphere up close!

Party in the City

After a day on the water, the festivities move to the center of Sneek. Spread across several music squares, you can enjoy live performances in a variety of musical styles, while the cafés also go all out with live music and entertainment.

Street Theater & Fun for Kids

During Sneekweek, Sneek transforms into one big stage. Street theater acts from the Netherlands and abroad provide surprising and playful entertainment. There’s plenty of fun for kids, too: the Sneekweek Children’s Afternoon guarantees an afternoon full of games, fun, and adventure!

Sneekweek Fair

From Friday evening through Thursday, you can enjoy the Sneekweek Fair on Martiniplein. With a mix of thrilling rides and nostalgic fair classics, there’s fun for everyone!

Water Sports & Fun

During Sneekweek, it’s all about water fun. Join the hilarious rubber boat race through Sneek’s canals or explore the city from the water on a relaxing stand-up paddleboarding tour.

Hardzeildag Market

On the Wednesday of Sneekweek, downtown Sneek transforms into a huge open-air shopping paradise. Stroll through the lively Hardzeildag Fair and discover the best stalls featuring clothing, accessories, local products, and much more.

Closing Concert

Sneekweek concludes with a canal concert on the Water in de Kolk near the Waterpoort.
