The Muontsen (Folsgare)

The monks of the monasteries Thabor near Tirns and the Oldeklooster (Bloemkamp) near Hartwerd contributed to the construction of dikes in the old Middelzee around the year 1000. These dikes are still emphatically present in the landscape. The three pillars represent the Jongedyk, the Tsjaerdyk and the Mieddyk. The plate in the shape of a Plompeblêd represents the strip of land on which Folsgare arose as a mound village.
